A bit of a different start than I'm used to. Me, the clock, 12mi of trail and 5000' of drop... oh yea it's on!
I was the only pro to ride a hardtail that day. I got a bunch of funny looks without huge suspension but my finishing time spoke for itself. The fact of the matter is that I am used to riding "downhill" trails on a cross country bike and it gave me a huge advantage on the one climb in the middle of the race. Rachel and I had to get back to Portland so I still dont know what place I finished in but if I compare times with last years than I got in the top 20 with a 36min race time. Adam Craig, USA's past Olympian came in at 33min but people were still coming down when we took off so we'll see. All in all it was a scary fast fun ride.
